Meeting of the European Union Representatives with the Suspended Workers of the Vahed Company

 

Labor Service – One of the suspended workers of the Vahed Company said, “The recent meeting of the European Union representatives delegation with the families of the suspended workers can be considered as the achievements of the previous missions of the representatives of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and the International Transportation Workers’ Federation to Iran.”

 

Saied Torabian added, “In the meeting of the families of the 53 suspended workers of the Vahed Company with the delegation of 11 representatives of the European Union, the background of the trade union activities of the workers at the Vahed Company and the reasons of these activities were discussed. “

 

Eliminating the restrictions of the activities of the members of the Syndicate, restraining all the dismissed workers because of their trade union activities, and establishing the free independent trade union were the major issues in the meeting, as the in charge of the public relation of the  53- suspended workers of the Vahed Company said. He added, “The Deputy of the European Union’s Parliament and one of the Trade Union activists from Spain, were among the 11 – member delegation, promised that they would take action to solve this problem in their negotiations with the Iranian Authorities.”

 

Torabian said, “In spite of the fact that the efforts of the 53 suspended workers had no results, they are still optimistic in solving their problems, and they welcome to use any opportunities to solve the problems.” He added, “The 11 – member delegation of the Representatives of the European Union came to Iran to investigate of the social, economical and political issues in the result of the previous delegations. As they stated the problem of the suspended workers of the Vahed Company is one of the reasons of their trip to Iran.”
